During the time I spent learning this week, the class and I learned about experiences. Sherman Alexie had valuable lessons in the pieces that he wrote as an author. We read the story Indian Education as a way to dive deep in what society was and the experiences Alexie went through growing up on a reservation, realizing his dream from others, and moving to a public school in town to develop his education to become a Doctor. This is a relatable experience many of us could share, realizing an important dream and wanting to grow yourself to reach that dream. Growing up, I realized my dream by the way I loved technology wanting to be an inspirational writer, an entrepreneur, and a great Aerospace Engineer.
In a creative writing, the class and I did, the topic was about pain and to define pain through personal experience and definition. Pain is about learning and reflecting on what truly experience is and why we need to look at what has been presented to us. Then we need to dive deeper on what pain is, define it in your own terms, and broaden the defined term with examples explaining what it is to you. This developed a new sense of reality the more I thought about the experience of pain. From sport injuries to personal death, it is an emotional and physical experience of Philosophy we all learn from an early age and into adulthood.
As the class continues to develop an answer to the big question dealing with identity, I believe identity also comes with experience and wisdom gained from it. Thus, also developing a type of individuality that we open our minds to, a new type of consciousness.
Thanks for coming back to the blog with an open mind!
